About

Welcome!

There is a chasm between endless possibility and human capacity. We all face this, whether or not we identify as “artists”. This is a gift; it’s in this gap that invention emerges. From the mundane to the profound, I am convinced that in working with our creativity we encounter the whole universe.

This demands a lot of us! A lot of courage, passion, honesty, patience, grace, flexibility, balance, humility and effort! And since it is so demanding, the mundane aspects of life are very important. We require support! As a life-long artist (I’ve explored the visual arts, dance, writing, and my great love music), my devotion to sustaining creativity drives me. I’ve learned and I’ve failed and I’m learning more. I’ve wanted to share this incredible process for some time now, but hesitated over the format.

This blog is my solution.

Everything here is something I’m doing or have done–it’s straight from the trenches. You can expect new material from me every other Tuesday, and you can also expect unexpected posts and updates. The malleability of the format allows what is written to evolve (like me, I hope!), which means that everything here can fit into one life.

Since that’s all we get.

I really like the idea of “sustainable” creativity. So often, I get suckered into the idea of “GET IT ALL DONE NOW!” and burn out, or think I do… thoughts are abounding around this. I’m glad you’re online and shared the link with us from this past fall.

Stephanie! I get it–I’ve lived most of my life with the exact same attitude. Actually, I’m living my life right NOW with that attitude, but these days I know enough to occasionally question it. Sounds like you do too.
I love your journal–you clearly DO sustain.
Why isn’t there an icon I can now press to express love and well-wishes and general sparklyness in your direction?

    Dear Miriam

Thank you for your support! I followed the link to your blog, read your sensitive, insightful post about listening and promptly became too star-struck to respond. Anyway, I’m responding now–thank you for listening and speaking both.

    Adena,

I feel so lucky to have found this! It’s a gift that just keeps transforming as the wrapping paper falls away…I am in awe. You are an amazing writer, an amazing artist, an amazing soul and an amazing friend! Can we talk soon? I would love that. Til then I shall bask in the glow of your blog, it warms me. xxx

    Dear Parisa,

Thank you so much! This means so much to me, and of course we will talk. And write. I love your blog too–I think it’s synchronous that we both started these virtual creativity havens, even though we’re so far apart.

    Thinking of you in Narnia

    xo
